Brian is married to Meredith Funk-Carriere and they live in the College Park neighborhood of Gulfport, just blocks from Brian's childhood home. Brian and Meredith are members of St. James Catholic Church and they have two children, Carolina (4) and Carter (1).

To the Citizens of Ward 5,

In 2005 I asked for your vote to serve as Ward 5 Councilman and you rewarded me with that privilege. We had great plans for Gulfport’s future in those first weeks but Hurricane Katrina put many of those plans on hold. Much of our energy the past few years has been devoted to the rebuilding effort. Now that most city rebuilding projects are underway it is time to look again to our future. I am seeking reelection in this time of economic crisis because our city officials must make fiscally responsible decisions that benefit all of our residents. I have pushed for common sense goals in this term and will continue if reelected.

This election is crucial for our city. We can choose officials who have proven only to seek short-term solutions to critical issues or we can choose people with a broader vision and who understand the benefits of coming to long-term solutions for our city. I promise to continue to work hard FOR YOU and to make responsible decisions for the taxpayers of Gulfport.

Born and raised in Gulfport, I have always been proud of our city and the people of our community. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the leadership and energy that will continue our progress well into the future. I will always stand up for you, and do my best on behalf of every resident. I have gained valuable experience in this previous term and can build on that to continue to help the citizens of Gulfport.
